Thomas Kraynak’s article on healthy brain aging is published to the Pittsburgh Post Gazette!

In the article, Thomas Kraynak reflects on his grandma’s incredible sharpness well into her nineties, noting how she stood out against the usual decline seen in older folks. He dives into brain aging research, finding links between lower blood pressure, less emotional stress, and a more youthful brain appearance. Thomas stresses the importance of staying healthy overall and emotionally sound to keep our brains in good shape as we age. He imagines a future where brain scans could tell us a lot about how our brains are aging, possibly giving us ways to slow down cognitive decline. Thomas admires his grandma’s resilience and lively spirit, crediting her long and vibrant life to staying socially active, living healthily–and perhaps good genes too.
