Journal of Gerontology Medical Sciences: Trainee Edition

Exciting news! We are thrilled to share that a manuscript by our Population Neuroscience trainee Yixiao Song has been accepted for publication in the Journal of Gerontology: Medical Sciences!

“A Bayesian Network Analysis of Gait Speed Change Upon Transition to Uneven Surfaces in Older Adults”

In Yixiao’s own words:

“I’m very excited and proud that this work contributes to a systems-level understanding of aging and mobility through an interpretable machine learning approach. By applying Bayesian Network modeling, we moved beyond traditional single-factor and regression-based approaches to examine the complexity of mobility adaptation in older adults. Our findings highlight how physical, psychological, neuroimaging, and cognitive systems may interact to shape gait adaptability.”

This work is a meaningful step forward in understanding how older adults adapt their movement across challenging real-world environments, and a testament to the rigorous, systems-level thinking Yixiao brings to her research. Congratulations, Yixiao! We can’t wait to see what’s next… and neither should you. Check out our LinkedIn to stay in the loop.
