What aspects of cognition do the California Verbal Learning and Rey Figure capture/not capture?

Percentage of education that was obtained outside of the U.S. has been shown to be associated with differing CVLT scores (Gorenstein et al, 2023). The “shopping list” format of the CVLT seems to be appropriate for other cultures, and it has been adapted, but the words need to be familiar and imaginable to the culture (i.e. not just translated from terms relevant to Western cultures) (Prang et al, 2009). There is not much I could find on the Rey figure test specifically; however, there is evidence that similar tests have significant variation in results across cultures (Rosselli & Ardila, 2003).
